Sweet Baby Girl | Alexandria VA Family Baby Photographer

Cutie Pie! That's pretty much all I can think when I see sweet Genevieve's face. She is just beyond adorable, it kind of makes me want to have babies until I have a baby girl just as cute as she is... which is a pretty tall order and I'm not sure my ovaries could handle it.

The weaknesses of my ovaries aside, this sweet family was such a joy to work with. They are so kind and lovely. We met on a day with the most fantastic weather and beautiful light, it all came together perfectly for their session.

Here are some of my favorite images from our session together - enjoy!

Outdoor Fall Family Session | Springfield VA Baby Photographer

I just adore this family. They are so sweet and wonderful. I've been lucky enough to work with them several times before this session - for mom's maternity session, for their First 48 hospital session, and baby Evelyn's newborn session. Each time is better than the last.

This motherhood family session was especially lovely. Baby Evy is SO BIG now, I can hardly believe it. She is going to be running around in no time at all.

My Best Tip for Your Next Family Session | Washington DC Photographer

I have to share something really exciting that I did recently: I hired a photographer to take our family photos for the first time.

Yep, the first time ever. Crazy, right?

Over the years I've been the one documenting our family's daily life (after all, I'm the one wielding the camera), but I decided it was past time for me to get in the photos too.

And I'll be honest, it was an eye opening experience to be on the client side of a photography session for once. Leading up to our session I was a bundle of nerves.

All I could think was:
Would my son like our photographer?
Would my hair cooperate?
Was I wearing the right thing?

And the worst: Why didn't I get serious about losing 20 pounds earlier?!!?

Crazy nervous, I tell you.

But you know what happened in the end? I loved it. Every single second of it. Even when my son was being a cranky-pants, even when my hair was out of control, and even though I didn't lose a single pound first.

And even more, I love the images I have now that captured it all. Even better: I'm in the photos too. Because not only do I have these images to look back on, but now my son will have images with me in them look back on too.

And you know my biggest family photo tip? Relax and have fun. I know, I know. Easier said than done, but as soon as you let go and embrace your beautiful family imperfections (crazy hair) and all, the better your photos will be.

I hope that was helpful and makes your next family session much more FUN - because that is what it should be. If you have any suggestions for how you like to prepare for your sessions, or any other questions you would like answered, contact me and let me know.

Beautiful Family of Four | Reston VA Baby Child Photographer

I love love love this family. I have been lucky enough to work with them three times already - for mom's maternity session, their First 48 session, and baby Evan's newborn session - and I love them more and more each time I see them. Big brother Declan never fails to disappoint, he is constantly moving and charming and oh so handsome. Little brother Evan is just as handsome as the last time I saw him, but he's grown so much! He is such a handsome chunky monkey, I could not get over his little feet.

It was so wonderful to meet up with them again for a family session. It was a warm evening, but the light was simply beautiful, perfect for this gorgeous family of four. Here are some of my favorite images from our time together - enjoy!

Arlington VA Family Photographer | Wonderful Family of Five

I was so excited to get to work with this gorgeous family again. I first met them for baby Emerson's newborn session last year and even then I was blown away by how wonderful these three siblings are. Big brothers Wil and Jack are so much fun. Even though I'm told he's the wild one at home, during their family session together Wil was a little more reserved and serious. I loved seeing this serious side of him, he was so thoughtful and focused on taking in everything around us. And the cows! He loves those cows! Biggest brother Jack was hilarious and funny with an easy smile. But most of all, these boys together... well, they're the best. When I asked them what the best thing about having a brother was, the answer was "the hugs." I die. Makes me want to have another little boy of my own. And of course with all the brotherly action going on little sister Emmy did her best to get in on everything. She's not quite walking yet, but when she does I think mom and dad are going to have quite the fun trio at home. She was already wrestling her brothers (and winning!).
