“Working with Kate for our newborn session was a wonderful experience. Just nine days into parenthood, my husband and I were tired and bleary-eyed, and Kate wowed us with her skill handling our baby boy. “We found Kate Juliet Photography after searching online for a maternity and newborn photographer in the northern Virginia area. We discovered through the online gallery that two of our friends’ beautiful family pictures were taken by Kate. Before booking with Kate, we connected with both families, and each of them had amazing things to say about their experience with Kate and the pictures they received. We were drawn to the photography style because of the natural and timeless look.
Leading up to our session, Kate helped plan our outfits and color schemes, even sending us style boards and ideas about where we could purchase some pieces to complete our look. It was so much fun to plan our family’s picture style with her! Additionally, Kate was flexible with the scheduling of our maternity shoot during the incredibly rainy spring. Although we had to delay our first session due to an early storm, Kate arranged her schedule to make sure we got our photo shoot in before baby arrived.
During both of our sessions, Kate was very playful and patient with all of my boys. She enjoyed making them laugh and ensured that everyone was comfortable during each session. The outdoor location for our maternity shoot was gorgeous, and the indoor studio had perfect lighting, colors, and props, for our newborn and family shoot.
We have so enjoyed our pictures and are still loving sharing them with friends and family. Kate went above and beyond to make our products beautiful and even added extra special surprises to our orders! We have received lots of requests for prints from family members, and we have more photos that we love than places to display them in our home. We will treasure the photos forever! ”
“We were extremely lucky to have Kate Juliet Photography capture my pregnancy, the day following the birth of our daughter, and her at a week old. Throughout every session Kate was incredibly professional and went out of her way to make everyone involved feel comfortable and enjoy the experience.
For my maternity session I was a bit nervous about what to expect and how comfortable I would feel in front of the camera at 8 months pregnant. In the month leading up to our session Kate was in constant contact answering my questions, clarifying and confirming what I was hoping to get from the session, setting up a hair and make-up artist to come to my home and even offering countless suggestions about what I may want to wear in the photos. The day of the session went beautifully. She made me feel comfortable and confident, and constantly reassured.
Our fresh 48 session in the hospital was just as comfortable and both my husband and I were very at ease with having her in the room with us and our brand new baby girl. She again was extremely professional and was able to capture the moment beautifully.
The one week photos came out amazing for what we gave Kate to work with. Our family interrupted and the baby was being uncooperative, but her ability to capture the small perfect moments in between the craziness made for fantastic shots that we treasure.

“We loved working with Kate! The day we were supposed to take our photos there was a very menacing storm looming around the area and I wasn’t sure if we were going to be able to go out. But Kate was wonderful and kept in contact with me throughout the day to assess the situation. An hour before our intended time we made the executive decision to go ahead and try. And SO glad we did, because the photos came out amazing. Working with Kate was wonderful, from the initial call to receiving the final piece it was like talking to an old friend. Kate was very accommodating and was even happy to try to include our pups in a few of the shots. Which was wonderful because they are our family and how could we not include them in our family photo.
The turnaround time was fantastic! When we received the login info to view our photos we were blown away. Kate was able to capture us in the most amazing way. She captured photos I didn’t even know she was there to take. We weren’t able to take any newborn photos when my daughter was born, but these definitely make up for it! They capture her personality so well and we literally can’t stop looking at them. What’s crazy is, we didn’t think we could love them any more ... until we received them in the mail. Kate’s attention to detail is phenomenal. You can just tell how much she cares and loves what she does. Not only is the quality of the packaging and prints off the charts but the fact she adds that added touch with her handwritten notes and gifts makes it so personal.
The moment my family and friends saw the photos they were just as blown away as we were. My coworkers even spent all morning gushing over how amazing the photos looked. We were so excited when Kate offered family photo sessions this spring. Kate’s website and feedback gave me great suggestions for styling the kids (we went to Gap, asked for help and had 3 great outfits in 30 minutes). The day of our family photos rain was looming and Kate communicated with me many times to go over options - luckily the rain held off. The process is one piece, but the end result is another and the photos from my son’s newborn shoot and our family shoot are wonderful. The comments from friends and family are off the charts with everyone so impressed by the style of the photos and how great everyone looks at one time! I don’t often like photos with my husband and I in them, things seem too posed or forced in these family shots, but our images with Kate are perfect. Kate manages to capture personalities in the pictures and takes time during the photo shoot to engage with the kids.”

“I had the pleasure of having three sessions with Kate leading up to and after the birth of my second child. She is the perfect mix of easy-going, kind and professional. I chose to hire her after seeing some photos she had taken of a friend which were amazing and then speaking to her. I loved the simple style of her photos and I knew that I would be in good hands. During our maternity, newborn and fresh 48 session at the hospital I felt very at ease with Kate. My toddler was a bit of a handful all three times but she was very patient and understanding of his nature. As a result she was able to catch him several times with great results. At the hospital she even included my parents in the session since they were there with my older child. I really appreciated that. Working with her was very easy, I never had any trouble getting in touch with her if I needed to.
