Outdoor Field Family Photography Session | Arlington VA Family Photographer

I first met this family last year for baby girl Griffin's newborn session last year and I was so incredibly happy to see them again this Spring for an outdoor family session in my favorite field location. I knew they would be so much fun to work with and they did not disappoint! Griffin has gotten so big since the last time I saw her, she is definitely in toddler territory now! She spent most of the session exploring and trying to keep up with her two older brothers. Her brothers in turn were so amazing with her. I always love seeing how older siblings interact with their younger counterparts. It's such a special relationship and it never fails that the older siblings are so in tune with what the younger ones need. These two brothers were no exception. They were so fun to be around and I loved getting to hang out and play with them for an hour. They ran around, they competed to see who could jump higher, and I had a blast watching them all together.

Outdoor Spring Session with Fabulous Family of Five | Fairfax VA Family Photographer

There is so much beautiful greenery this time of year - I love it! Outdoor Spring family sessions are quickly become one of my favorite types of sessions. Getting to go outside on a beautiful day with wonderful people, it's the best combination. As I mentioned before, I didn't get to offer family sessions last year, so photographing families this Spring has been a great change of pace for me.

This family of five was so much fun, I got such a kick out of meeting them. Older brothers Hunter and Grayson were a riot together and baby of the family, Laurel, was as cute as can be. In the beginning three year old Grayson wasn't sure if he wanted to join everyone else in the session, but he was hamming it up for the camera soon enough. His smile is just infectious, I love it. And I gotta give a shout out to big brother Hunter. He was a trooper even as his little brother climbed all over him. He is a great big brother for sure.

Arlington VA Family Photographer | Outdoor Spring Session

Last year I didn't have the opportunity to offer family sessions and I promised myself (and my clients!) that I would do it this year. Since I'm a one-woman show, scheduling sessions to fit everyone in can be tricky, but I'm so incredibly glad that I created dedicated family sessions this Spring. In order to offer the best service to all of my clients, family sessions are offered only a couple times each year, and exclusively to current and previous Kate Juliet Photography clients. I love holding them outdoors so everyone can run around and explore. This is especially great when families have several kiddos, the kids get a chance to around and have a good time when I'm not photographing them. These sessions are so much fun and I just love seeing so many kiddos and babies grow. We run, we play. The kids get dirty, the parents wonder if I'm nuts (I am). It isn't a successful session if someone doesn't get a grass stain somewhere. Let it be known: Playing and being silly is a must during my family sessions.

I photographed baby brother Bruce when he was an ittby bitty newborn baby last year and I can't get over how big he is now. He's walking! And check out his awesome hair! He has become a full-fledged toddler and is such an adorable little guy. He really knew how to ham it up for the camera. Big sisters Amelia and Annie were just as charming as the last time I met them too. Our session was particularly special because it was Amelia's 6th birthday, so the evening ended with cake and a song. We even had a surprise visitor during our session - a frog! Big sister Amelia was a pro with him and so gentle (possible future veterinarian someday?) and helped him hop back home.

Family Photography Session | Leesburg VA Baby Photographer

I wasn't able to offer family sessions this fall the way I would have liked (if I can't do something well and offer my clients the level of service they deserve it just doesn't work out). So sorry to everyone who inquired about family sessions that I wasn't able to do them for you. I'm hoping that next year I'll be able to offer sessions to current and previous KJP clients. Crossing my fingers and toes it works out!

I managed to squeeze in exactly one family session for this lovely family and luckily we had some amazing weather. Fall in Northern Virginia... you never quite know what's going to happen with the weather. This family is so much fun to work with, I last saw them for a Mommy & Me session, and I love love love getting to see my babies as they grow up. (and yes, every newborn I photograph is one of "my" babies!) Abby is now 9 months old and she was so.much.fun. All smiles and giggles. She's started pulling up on her own so it looks like walking is just around the corner (parents, prepare now!). I just loved capturing this family together, and how gorgeous are Abby and her mom together? Love.
